Environmental Assessment Reports

Environmental documents including investigations, assessments, and hazardous materials, asbestos, and lead paint surveys that have been warehoused in the Division of Engineering Offices in Seattle and Dallas are being converted from paper archive to electronic media.

Access to the completed reports is only available from the IHS Intranet, behind the firewall, through the DES Document Access Portal. Additional reports that have been submitted electronically are also being posted to the system.

From within the DES Document Access Portal document details are grouped by facility within each Service Unit by Area in a standard view that shows document details. Documents with available executive summary information can be viewed individually with additional detail. An expanded view is also available that includes any executive summary information for all documents in the selected Area. From all views the source document can be viewed or saved.

Many of the environmental documents are very large, in excess of 25M, and a reader with incremental download display, allowing the document to be viewed during download, is highly recommended. To ensure that incremental download is available in Adobe Acrobat or Reader the options to ‘display PDF in browser’ and ‘fast web view’ in the program preferences should be enabled.
